Rooted in community Fighting for fairness
I’m Elizabeth Carr-Ellis and it’s an honour to be your Scottish Labour candidate for Fife North East. I grew up on benefits and free school meals and went on to lead a nationwide health campaign, fighting for change at the highest levels of power. Working together, we can build a fairer, stronger community for everyone.
I Know What Opportunity Means – Let’s Open Doors for Everyone
I grew up in Newcastle‘s two most deprived wards. My parents worked hard – my dad in a factory and my mam as a barmaid – but it was never enough. And then my dad took ill. At 11, I was nearly taken into care.
Two things changed everything. The first was growing up in a welfare state built by Labour, which gave me and my siblings the opportunities to break the cycle of poverty.
The second was moving to Scotland, where I learnt that who I was mattered more than where I came from.
Life here has given me so much, but my past drives everything I do.
As a city councillor and a campaigner, I’ve worked with politicians and communities from all of society, fighting for working people and promoting women‘s rights. Because I know real change happens when people come together.
My experiences have given me the drive to stand up for the most vulnerable — and I’ll bring that same determination to deliver fairness, opportunity and real change for everyone.

A Fairer Society for Fife North East – Because We All Deserve Better.
After nearly two decades in power, the SNP’s record speaks for itself?
In Fife North East, our schools, hospitals and local services simply haven’t been given the support they need. Families are struggling, too many children are living in poverty and vital services are stretched to breaking point.
But it doesn’t have to be this way.
I believe in a Fife North East that works for everyone. A place where:
- Our children get the education they deserve
- Our NHS provides care when we need it
- Local councils have the funding to support our communities
- Young families can afford homes of their own
I know that when we invest in our schools, our health services and our communities, everyone benefits.
I’m standing for Fife North East because I believe in hope, action and a fairer future for all of us. Together, we can make it happen.
